NEW GLOUCESTER and WINTER HARBOR – William “Billy” Pierce, 62, passed away unexpectedly March 4, 2009, at his home. He was born Jan. 6, 1947, at Eastern Maine Medical Center, the son of William and Kay (Smallidge) Pierce. He served in the Army from 1965 to 1968, a veteran of Vietnam. He attended Sumner Memorial High School. Billy was an employee of Clean Harbors out of Portland. He is survived by the love of his life, Marilyn Chase of New Gloucester; his mother, Kay Pierce of Winter Harbor; his son, Michael Pierce of Turner; his sister, Karen Hodgkins of Winter Harbor; his brother, Larry and wife, Mary, of Carmel; nieces, Carol Roy of Hampden and Cathy Odenborg of Snohomish, Wash.; a very special niece, Erica Hodgkins of Winter Harbor; and a special “sister” and friend, Donna Atwell of New Gloucester. He was predeceased by his father, Bill; and his best friend, Ray Atwell. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, March 8, at the Winter Harbor Grammar School Gymnasium.
