WHITING – Sharon Ruth (Sawtelle) Stoddard, 71, passed away peacefully March 8, 2009, surrounded by her family in Bangor. She was born Nov. 6, 1937, in Lubec, the daughter of Ralph and Florence (Denbow) Sawtelle. Sharon was truly one of God’s angels here on Earth. She held a huge heart for all she knew and loved. She always put others needs before her own. She had a strong faith and belief in God and her Savior Jesus Christ. Sharon loved her family unconditionally and was blessed with many friends and her co-members at Three Angels Seventh-day Adventist Church, Whiting. Sharon was nothing less than a hard worker. Through the years she worked skinning herring, raking blueberries and making wreaths, along with raising six active children. Sharon will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Clayton; sons, Randy and wife, Norma, and Wade and wife, Monica; daughters, Charlene Foss, and Amanda Prescott and companion, Mark McCurdy; grandchildren, Ben and Emily Stoddard, Shandelle and Talor Stoddard, Rebecca Foss, Joey Wood and wife, Amanda, Luke and Samantha Lancaster; a great-granddaughter, Jasmine Lancaster; brothers, Bill Sawtelle and wife, Ann, Marvin Sawtelle and wife, Pok, and Toby Sawtelle and wife, Diane; a sister, Donna Laflamme; an aunt, Avis Mallock; special sons-in-law, Ronald Wood and fiancee, Lynn Godfrey, and Harry Foss; special sisters-in-law, Mary Hawkins and husband, Mike, and Christine Ward; brother-in-law, Wayne Stoddard and wife, Peggy; many nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Dave, Sara, Sam and Jasmine Hostetter. She was predeceased by two daughters, Dawn Wood and Rhonda Lancaster; a granddaughter, Lori Star Wood; and a brother, Ralph Sawtelle Jr. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at Three Angels Seventh-day Adventist Church. Interment will be held in the spring at Jacksonville Cemetery. Arrangements by McClure Family Funeral Services, Lubec.
