GORHAM – Maxine H. Brown, 82, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2009, six days before her 82nd birthday. She was born March 14, 1927, in Bridgewater, a daughter of Fred and Ada Nichols Kilcollins. Maxine was a graduate of Bridgewater Classical Academy. She was proud to be from “The County.” Maxine was married to Royce Wardell Brown for 33 years. He predeceased her in 1983. She was a homemaker for most of her life and was also a baker for the Gorham School System for many years. Maxine was a member of Meadow Brook West Condo Association. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed golfing, cross-country skiing and traveling. Maxine was known for her walks, walking three miles every morning. Her grandchildren were her delight. She also spent many summers at Lake Hebron, Monson, as well as being a lover of the sun and beach. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Vella Jewell and Avis Giroux. Survivors include her children, Stephen F. Brown and his wife, Jane, Roger K. Brown and his wife, Jill, Troy A. Brown and his wife, Becky, Suzanne Brown Libby and her husband, Neil, and Carla Brown Maddrell and her husband, Paul; brothers, Paul KilCollins and Robert Kilcollins and his wife, Shirley; a sister, Joyce Sarrasin; grandchildren, Caleb and Isaac Brown, Jesse and Whitney Libby, Sarah and Noah Brown, Fritz Maddrell, and Zoe Brown; a great-grandchild, Jackson Libby; special friends, Forrest Bryant and Bill Benson; several special nieces and nephews. The family gives a special thank you to Beacon Hospice and the Windsor II unit of Gorham House, and in particular to Nancy Mash for all their wonderful care. There will be no visiting hours. A celebration of Maxine’s life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, her 82nd birthday, at First Parish Congregational Church, Church Street, Gorham.
