PRESQUE ISLE – Nora Wilder, 91, wife of the late Daniel W. Wilder Jr., died March 11, 2009, at a Presque Isle health care facility. She was the daughter of George H. and Estella (Carr) Doody of Caribou. She was born July 2, 1917, in California Settlement, New Brunswick. She grew up in Caribou and was a 1935 graduate of Caribou High School. She worked about 27 years for New England Telephone Co., Presque Isle, where she was a supervisor for many of those years. Nora took an early retirement so she and her husband could spend the winter months in Florida. Nora was a life long member of Presque Isle Congregational Church. She is survived by two sons, Richard D. and his wife, Jane Ann S., of Montgomery Village, Md., and William L. and his wife, Melody J., of Haverhill, Mass.; two grandsons, Eric and his wife, Ann, of Beverly, Mass., and Aaron and his wife, Nancy, of Northwood, N.H.; three great-grandchildren, Noah, son of Aaron and Nancy, Elizabeth Rose and Daniel, children of Eric and Anne; and many local nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Laura Devoe of California, Hannah Giggie of Crouseville, Ivory Doody of Woodland, Stephen E. Doody of Caribou, John Doody of Crouseville, Ora Jones of Fort Fairfield and Merrill Doody of Kathleen, Fla. The family wishes to thank all of the dedicated staff at Presque Isle Rehab and Nursing Home, The Aroostook Medical Center and Leisure Village for their caring words and comforting actions, which will forever be remembered. There will be no calling hours. A committal service will be conducted by Dr. Rev. Robert Grove-Markwood at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle, at a date and time to be announced in the spring.
