TREMONT – Winfield Perry Murphy Jr., 81, died March 10, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. He was born June 4, 1927, in Tremont, the son of Winfield P. and Annabel (Lunt) Murphy. Winfield was employed at Pratt and Whitney, East Hartford, Conn., for many years and also at Hinckley’s, Manset, for several years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Mavis (Farley) Murphy of Tremont; two sons, Tim Sprague of Bangor and James A. Sprague and wife, Donna, of Bristol, R.I.; one daughter, Anne Marie Dockery and husband, Philip, of White Oak, N.C.; one sister, Lyda Rich of West Tremont; four grandchildren, Carlton Sprague, George Dockery, Joey Dockery and Ruth Dockery; and two great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to call 2-4 p.m. Friday, March 13, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Head of Harbor Cemetery, Bass Harbor.
