ORR’S ISLAND – Henry Marks Alley, 94, died March 14, 2009, at an Ellsworth hospital. He was born June 16, 1914, in Ellsworth, the son of Charles and Cora (Marks) Alley. Henry graduated from George Stevens Academy, Blue Hill, in 1932. He married Juanita Lawrie, March 6, 1936. He was a member of Hiram Lodge No. 180, South Portland, and Ellsworth United Methodist Church. He is survived by sons, Dean Alley and wife, Elizabeth, of Lubec and Mark Alley and wife, Wendy, of Dover, N.H.; daughter, Joanne Harris of Orr’s Island; grandchildren, Shamus, Kristin and Jonathan Alley, Melinda Richter, Andrea Michelson and Leeanne Keller; and four great-grandchildren. Henry was predeceased by his beloved wife of 68 years, Jan. 27, 2005; and siblings, Laurence, William, Doris and Gladys. A celebration of his life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 22, at Ellsworth United Methodist Church, 21 Hancock St., Ellsworth. A reception will be after at the church.
