BREWER – Joseph R. Renaud, 82, drew his last earthly breath Friday, March 13, 2009, with his loving family at his side, in Bangor. Joe was born Oct. 4, 1926, in Worcester, Mass., to Josephine (Rongeau) and Edward N. Renaud. He was the youngest of eight; he had four sisters and three brothers. Because of that, his nieces and nephews were more like siblings to him. In 1943 at 17 years old, he enlisted in the Navy and proudly defended our freedom in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He served 30-plus years as a radio/telephone operator. After retirement he kept busy working at Viner Shoe, R.B. Dunning, Over the Horizon Radar and Pre-Sort. He was an avid golfer until his health forced him to stop. His golfing buddies, Norm, Elwood and Mel, meant the world to him. He adored Tiger Woods and watched him every time he played. In 2004 he was thrilled to experience the Red Sox World Series win. Joe was a member of East Orrington Congregational Church. Joe was predeceased by his parents and siblings. He was happily married to Betty (Crook) Renaud in 2002, after a 28-year engagement. Joe has three sons, Robert Joseph, Joseph Robert and Gregory Allen; four stepchildren, Gary and Don Seavey, Cathy Seavey-Buck and Trease Hodge-Vigneault; and grandchildren, Alex, MaggieBeth and Lauren Olivia Seavey. Thank you to Dr. Frye, Dr. VanKirk, Dr. Maskiny, Dr. Berg and all the caring staff at Eastern Maine Medical Center and a very special thanks to Georgia King, R.N., and Gwen Buck, N.T., for their kindness, patience and generosity towards Joe and his whole family. A service of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at East Orrington Congregational Church, 38 Johnson Mill Road, Orrington, with our pastor, Carl Schreiber, officiating. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests making a contribution to Orrington Food Cupboard or the American Lung Association.
