NEWPORT – G. Leonard “Lenny” Holmbom, 50, died unexpectedly at his residence. He was born Jan. 13, 1959, in Dexter, a son of Garald and Carolyn (Leavitt) Holmbom Sr. He loved music and will be remembered as an accomplished guitarist. He was also an avid fisherman. He attended Pathway Community Church, Newport. Lenny is survived by his mother, Carolyn Langert of Newport; two daughters, Hannah and Allyson Holmbom, both of Greenville; a brother, David Holmbom of Pittsfield; two sisters, Elizabeth and husband, Roderick Thompson, of Charleston, and Candace and husband, Michael Mullen, of Hermon; two nephews, Joshua Holmbom and David VanNest; one niece, Jennifer VanNest; one great-niece, Jocelyn Holmbom; three aunts; and friends, Kevin Cookson, Mark Huffer, Bill W., Julie Henderson, Ron Richardson and Gloria Thurlow. He will also be remembered by his ex-wife, Roxanne (Carr) Holmbom of Greenville. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at Pathway Community Church, 220 Elm St., Newport, with Pastor Tony Brown officiating. Spring burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Monson. Cremation arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to assist the family with expenses, in care of the funeral home.
