OLD TOWN and SEBRING, Fla. – Joseph Gilbert Clavette, 58, died unexpectedly March 13, 2009, at his Sebring, Fla., residence. He was born April 10, 1950, in St. Ann, New Brunswick, a son of Leo and Annette (Deschane) Clavette. Joe was a graduate of Old Town High School. He proudly served his country during Vietnam as a member of the U.S. Army and later served in the National Guard. He took pride in establishing a youth hockey program that later became known as the OT Indians. Joe enjoyed “living the life,” residing in Florida during the winter and spending summers at his camp at St. Ann, New Brunswick. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandbabies and traveling. He is survived by his son, Todd Clavette; daughter, Tina Clavette and her children, Dannielle Lynne, Tyler Jordan, Sierra Dawn, Meghan Elise and Little Ricky; and a daughter, Alisha Clavette, all of Old Town; six brothers, Armand, Donat, Bertrand, Aldeo, Marcel and Adrian; five sisters, Jocelyn, Jacqueline, Yvette, Gilberte and Denise; a special friend, Ava Clavette; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; a daughter, Randa Ann Clavette; a sister, Ghislaine; brother, Fern; and nephew, Ivan. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Friday at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at Resurrection Parish, formerly Holy Family Parish. Interment with full military honors will be at Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Augusta, at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a veteran’s charity of one’s choice.
