SIDNEY – Annette Avis Emerson, 73, of the Pond Road, died March 28, 2009, at her home after a brief illness. She was born Nov. 25, 1935, in Bangor, the daughter of Frances (Bushey) Dephilippo and James Dephilippo. Avis grew up in Bangor as a part of a very large family. She was educated in the Bangor school system and also attended Mid-State College, Augusta. Mrs. Emerson retired in 1998 from the Veterans’ Administration Medical and Regional Center, Togus. Avis was previously employed by Modern Cleaners, Bangor, and Sears department store, Augusta. Her interests included gardening, sewing and taking care of her home and family. She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Emerson of Sidney; two daughters, Kathy L. Allen of Oakland and Linda Warren and her husband, Larry, of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; one son, Jeffrey R. Emerson of Chelsea; six grandchildren, Jesse and Sarah Allen, Kyle and Kali Warren, and Tyler and Michael Emerson; two sisters, Geraldine “Chickie” Chapman and Carlene Burns of Bangor; one brother, Edward Dephilippo of Bangor; stepbrothers, stepsister and half brothers and half sisters, Gail Walker, Gay Cram, Michael Chapman, Vickie Wright, Darlene Petrakovich, David Chapman, Nanette Searway, Georgia Speed, Anne Kearns, Barbara Gaudette and Faye Dephilippo. Avis was predeceased by brother, Orlando “Sonny” Dephilippo; half and step sisters and brothers, George Chapman Jr., Gary Chapman, Mary “Betty” Vandestine, Katherine “Kay” Clifford, Shirley White, Philip Chapman Sr., Timothy Chapman and Robert “Sonny Boy” Chapman. Visiting hours are 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 2, at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, where a funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Burial will be at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Augusta, at a later date.
