BAR HARBOR – Charles R. Burgoyne, 86, died March 29, 2009, at a Mount Desert Island hospital. He was born Feb. 17, 1923, in Daigle, the son of Charles and Elizabeth (Dube) Bourgoin. Charles graduated from Fort Kent High School in 1941 and from the University of Maine in 1946, with a degree in economics and farm management. He worked for Niagara Chemical as a district manager for 18 years, was employed for Franklin County Extension Service, was a Greenfield (Mass.) Association County Agent, and he owned and operated Miller Gardens, Bar Harbor, for 18 years. Charles was a member of the Jaycees, Bangor, Bar Harbor Planning Board and Warrant Committee and SCORE for 15 years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Katherine (Barber) Burgoyne; three sisters, Theresa and her husband, Randall Pinkham, of Fort Kent, Mary and her husband, Leonard Maltese, of Yonkers, N.Y., and Josette and her husband, Roy W. Siewert of Knoxville, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews. Charles was predeceased by two sisters, Constance Bourgoin and Bernice Michaud; by a brother, Bernard Bourgoin; and a niece, Jennifer Pinkham.
