BANGOR, Maine — The Maine Air National Guard would get a new hangar under President Barack Obama’s proposed 2010 budget.

U.S. Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins said the budget proposal unveiled Thursday includes $28 million to construct a new hangar to replace the existing one, which was built in 1954 at the Bangor International Airport.

The senators say a new hangar would be used to house the KC-135 refueling tankers now used by the 101st Air Refueling Wing, as well as larger tankers in the future.
