VAN BUREN – Theresa L. Cyr, 92, died May 9, 2009, at a Van Buren health care facility. She was born July 10, 1916, in Lille, the daughter of Charles and Jane (Tardif) Langlais. She was employed as a schoolteacher for SAD 24 for 29 years. Mrs. Cyr was a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit No. 49 of Van Buren. She was also a member of Evangeline Circle, Daughters of Isabella and a Mercy Meal volunteer in her parish of St. Bruno-St. Remi; a member of the National Teachers Association, the Maine Teachers Association, the National Education Association, the Retired Teachers Association and the American Contract Bridge League. She is survived by one daughter, Barbara “Babs” Cyr of Van Buren; one son, Michael Cyr and his wife, Mary Ann, of Boynton Beach, Fla.; four sisters, Jeannette Cassio of Howland, Lucille Bradley of Manchester, N.H., Germaine Hart of Newburyport, Mass., and Louise Sears of Augusta, Ga.; two brothers, Lucien Langlais of Elizabeth, N.J., and Leo James Langlais and his wife, Fern, of Dexter; two granddaughters, Stephanie Desrocher of Windsor Locks, Conn., and April Montgomery of Olive Branch, Miss; and nine grandchildren. Tess was predeceased by her husband, William F. Cyr in 2000. Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Committal service and interment will be at the parish cemetery.
