VEAZIE – Ruth E. Wallace, 74, died May 14, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Oct. 23, 1934, in Bradford, the daughter of Ossian and Vera (Hodgkins) Hurd. Ruth graduated from Higgins Classical Institute in 1952 and then worked for New England Telephone and Radio Telephone of Maine. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and homemaking. Ruth is survived by her husband of 52 years, George W. Wallace of Veazie; four children, Vicki and her husband, Joseph Parker, of Marlboro, Mass., Julia Zocher of Chesapeake, Va., Pamela Wallace of Hampden, and Wright Wallace and his wife, Kara, of Bangor; four grandchildren, Amelia and Joshua, Olivia and Serena; stepgrandchildren, Joseph and Kellyann Parker; and great-stepgranddaughter, Lillian Parker. Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 18, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. Randall C. Chretien, senior pastor of First United Methodist Church, Bangor, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to meet 2:15 p.m. Monday at the Superintendents Lodge, State Street entrance. Friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments immediately after the service at the Wallace home in Veazie.
