VAN BUREN and FORT KENT – Leona (Nadeau) Rossignol, 100, died peacefully May 14, 2009, at a Van Buren heath care facility. She was born in New Canada, the eldest daughter of Guilford and Victoria (Lamarre) Nadeau. Leona worked at Fraser Paper, Ltd., for many years, retiring in 1960. She was employed as a housekeeper for the Rev. Roland J. Marcotte, until his death in 1989. She took pride in being the first couple married at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Madawaska. She was known for her cooking and taking pride in her garden. She will be dearly missed by her family friends. She is survived by her son, Clifford and his wife, Mariette, of Scarborough; and one daughter, Rita Saccuzzo of Vernon, Conn.; six grandchildren, Karen Rossignol of Richmond, Va., Gregory Rossignol and his wife, Giovianna, of Delmar, Calif., Michael Saccuzzo of Vernon, Conn., Laura Shugrue of Rocky Hill, Conn. Dr. Jean Beebe and her husband, Thomas, of Salem, Conn., and Paula Saccuzzo of Natick, Mass.; eight great-grandchildren, Hannah, Dana and Chelsea Miller of Richmond, Va., Patrick, Matthew and Christopher Shugrue of Rocky Hill, Conn., Kate and Jennifer Beebe of Salem, Conn.; and one sister, Rita Noonan of Windsor, Conn. She was predeceased by her husband Patrick in 1955; several brothers and sisters. Friends may call 8 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Burial will be afterward at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Madawaska.
