VAN BUREN – Reno A. Parent, 83, passed away May 14, 2009, with his loving family by his side, at a Bangor hospital. He was born June 18, 1925, in Van Buren, the son of Leonard Parent and Alice (Cyr) Parent. A loving husband and revered dad, Reno was a proud veteran of World War II, was a third degree member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 1635, Van Buren, and a member of American Legion Post No. 49 of Van Buren. He was also a charter member of Van Buren Lions Club. Reno was very active in his parish, St. Peter Chanel. He served for 22 years as an usher, several years on the mercy meal committees and was also on the parish finance committee. A consummate businessman, Reno had a 42-year career with Sears, managing the Van Buren store and later owned and managed the Sears store in Madawaska. Reno had many interests; he enjoyed travel, photography, loved nature and peacefully working around his beloved home overlooking Violette Brook. His favorite pastime was spending time with family. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Adrienne (Albert) Parent of Van Buren; one son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Denise Parent of Colchester, Conn.; and one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Joseph Folker of Lewisburg, Pa. Reno was also blessed with six special grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, Keith and Ross Parent and Christin and Melissa Folker, who very much adored their Papa. He was predeceased by one daughter, Elizabeth; two brothers, Ronald and Claude Parent; four sisters, Irene Johnson, Rita Marquis, Cecile Gagnon and Theresa Poitras; four half brothers, Henry, Charlie, Patrick and Paul Parent; and two half sisters, Marie Good and Christine Martin. Relatives and friends may call 9 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Committal service and interment will be in the parish cemetery.
