PRESQUE ISLE – Rose A. DeMerchant, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday morning, May 15, 2009. She was born March 23, 1923, in West Chapman, the daughter of Jasper and Flossie (Hilton) MacPherson. Rose married Chester DeMerchant, Dec. 9, 1945. She was a devoted military wife, mother, grandmother and traveled all over the world. Rose worked as the bookkeeper for the family business, DeMerchant’s Trailer Park, Presque Isle. She was a devoted member of State Street Baptist Church and served as the secretary-treasurer of the Sunday school for many years. She is survived by her husband, Chester E. of Presque Isle; a son, David and his wife, Sharon, of Presque Isle; four grandchildren, Cristyn DeMerchant of Virginia, Melissa DeMerchant of Portland, Gregory Todd Bartlett of Caribou and Stephanie Murray of Alaska; four great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Gary DeMerchant; a daughter, Karen Bartlett; eight siblings, Robert, Almon, Marjorie, Donald, Evelyn, Doriene, Roland and her twin sister, Ruth. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Michael Shaw officiating. Relatives and friends may call noon until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. After the burial there will be a reception at State Street Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to State Street Baptist Church, P.O.
