HERMON – Gail Lee Emerson, 64, died May 17, 2009, at her residence. She was born July 8, 1944, in Brunswick, the daughter of Harry E. and Helen (Lavway) Willey. Gail was a lover of her pet dogs and cat. She was a hard worker and could be found gathering up stones for her rock wall at her home. Gail was a good carpenter and repair person and enjoyed working around the home. She liked using the tractor to mow the lawn, or could be found painting the house, or taking care of anything that needed to be fixed. Gail enjoyed working in the mailroom at the University of Maine. She hardly ever missed a day at work with 42 years of service and was absolutely dependable. Gail liked listening to the old style country music as well as had a flair for photography. More than anything, Gail’s family was her life. There are many wonderful memories of her with her grandchildren enjoying their smiles and wonderful times just being together. She was dearly loved and will be sadly missed. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Fred Emerson Jr. of Hermon; a son, Fred Emerson III and his wife, Wendy, of Hermon; two grandchildren, Makayla and Brianna; a special sister-in-law, Patricia Douglass; a special friend, Christine Brown; and a brother, Scott Willey of Carmel. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Harry Willey Jr. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 28, at Highland Cemetery, Carmel. Gifts in her memory may be made to Bangor Humane Society, 693B Mount Hope Ave., Bangor, ME 04401. A service of Brookings-Smith, Bangor.
