BAR HARBOR – Henrietta K. Hamilton, 95, died May 20, 2009, at the Elizabeth Senton Residence, Wellesley, Mass. She was born April 11, 1914, in Bar Harbor, daughter of Henry and Judith (Knowles) Graten. She grew up in Bar Harbor and later graduated from high school in Camden in 1932. Henrietta married Nelson E. Hamilton in 1936 and later moved to Needham, Mass., in 1954. Henrietta and Nelson lived in Needham, Mass., for 26 years until Nelson’s retirement in 1980. During this time they continued to vacation at their home in Town Hill and moved there permanently when he retired. Henrietta is survived by her three children, Lynwood D. Hamilton and wife, Barrie, of Needham, Mass., Judith Hamilton and husband, Dennis Riegel, of Walpole, Mass., and Duane Hamilton and wife, Judith, of Storrs, Conn.; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Nelson Sr., in 2004; and by her son, Nelson E. Hamilton Jr. Friends are invited to call 1-2 p.m. Sunday, May 24, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert, where services will be held 2 p.m. with the Rev. William “Mac” Bigelow Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Mount View Cemetery, Bar Harbor.
