MATTAWAMKEAG – Keith J. Hale, 78, passed from this life to his eternal rest May 20, 2009, surrounded by his loving family, at Millinocket Regional Hospital. He was born Dec. 20, 1930, in East Millinocket, the son of Fred A. and Mary S. (Jodrey) Hale. Keith worked mostly on construction and odd jobs. He attended Mattawamkeag Methodist Church and some at Zion Pentecostal Church. Keith helped a lot of people, never looking for anything in return. The gift Keith had was his memory, and we will all miss the stories about Maine towns and people, and his garden. Keith is survived by his nephew, Gene Noonan and wife, Edna; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Elmer; sister, Edith; half brother, Arnold Noonan; and half sister, Berniece (Noonan) Strandberg. Keith wants to thank everyone for all they have done for him throughout the years, his family, many friends, Millinocket Regional Hospital, CancerCare of Maine, Dr. Brooks and Dr. Meserve. Special thanks to his niece, Terri, of California; and Susan and her son, Chris, of North Carolina, for being with Keith during his last moments. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Leon Robinson officiating.
