GARLAND and FALL RIVER, Mass. – Hilda Lima Gaskell, 90, died with dignity May 20, 2009. She was born Feb. 16, 1919, in Fall River, Mass., the daughter of merchants, the late Joseph and Constantina Lima. She was married many years to the late Raymond Gaskell. She worked for the public and then decided on a career in textile as a slitter, wrapper and ticketer. After retirement, she moved to Maine and found the home in the country she always wanted. She loved to watch the birds, read a book and watch the seasons change. She is survived by one sister, Angela Smith; one brother, Joseph Lima; five sons, Raymond, Thomas, Luke, Mark and Rodney; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one brother, Theodore Lima. Although Hilda is no longer with us in body and mind, she is and always will be in spirit. Like a ship that has left its moorings and sails bravely out to sea, so someone dear has sailed away in calm serenity, but there’s promise of a greater joy than Earth could have in store, for God has planned a richer life beyond the unseen shore.
