BELFAST – Wilbur E. Ellis, 81, died May 25, 2009, at Harbor Hill, Belfast. He was born June 24, 1927, in Winslow, son of Adelbert and Myrtle (Johnston) Ellis. He was service manager at Hillcrest Poultry, Lewiston and Duratherm Window Co., Vassalboro. After retiring, he enjoyed doing small carpenter jobs and making things with his carpentry skills. Wilbur was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Mary Ellis; sister, Blanche Stearns; and brother-in-law, Steve Chapman. Survivors include his sisters, Frances Merrithew and her husband, Scott, of Belfast and Marlene Chapman of Benton; a special nephew, Gary Merrithew; as well as many others. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, at First Church, Belfast. Burial will be at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Augusta.
