PRESQUE ISLE – James A. Foren, 51, died at his Lombard Street home on Memorial Day, May 25, 2009, after a brief illness. He was born Aug. 14, 1957, in Presque Isle, the youngest child of Carroll and Phyllis (Shaw) Foren. Jim lived in Easton most of his life. He brought joy and meaning to the lives of his parents and sparked their years of devoted service to Central Aroostook Association for Retarded Children. Jim possessed an uncommon wisdom, a love of kindness and a deep appreciation of music. He attended Presque Isle Wesleyan Church, participated in the Special Olympics, loved karaoke night, the Shrine Circus and parades. Jim was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his four siblings and their spouses, Sheila and Oran Holmes Jr. of Easton, Judy and Dan Wathen of Augusta, Wayne and Marjorie Foren of Burke, Va., and Gene and Roma Foren of Bangor; nieces and nephews, Lance Holmes, Kevin Holmes, Julanne Gilbert, Daniel Wathen, Laurie Deems-Flatten, Cheryl Ramey and Shawn Foren; and an aunt, Emily Shaw of Manchester; 15 great-nieces and great-nephews. The family is deeply appreciative for the love and kindness extended to Jim by the staff, past and present, of Central Aroostook ARC and Opportunity Training Center, and his housemates. They provided him a home and became a vital part of Jim’s family. Visitation will begin noon Saturday, May 30, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Church Street, Presque Isle, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. with the Rev. Larry Palmer officiating. Interment will be at Mount Shilo Cemetery, Easton. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to Central Aroostook ARC, P.O. Box 1245, Presque Isle, ME 04769.
