ABBOT – Althea A. Bennett, 83, passed away peacefully May 28, 2009, to be reunited with her husband, Bernard, who predeceased her in 1974. She was born May 25, 1926, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Frank and Gertrude (Averill) Moore. Althea was employed at Hardwood Products for several years. Up until recently, she was an active member of Abbot Historical Society and Abbot Kitchen Committee. She was always ready for a game of cards with Marion or anyone else who dared to challenge her, and spending time with her family, especially during Christmas. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her six brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Judy Doore of Dexter and Pam Guerrera of Waterbury, Conn., along with their husbands, who were like her own sons, Michael Doore and Jack Guerrera. She was known as Gram and Mammie to four grandchildren, Michelle Roy, David Doore, Jill Guerrera and Kristen Guerrera; and five great-grandchildren, Morgan, Mikayla and Nathan Roy, Zachary and Isaac Doore. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. During the last 15 years she enjoyed the companionship of her dog, Meiling. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family gives a special thanks to Dr. Luthin, the staff at Mayo Regional Hospital and Hibbard’s Nursing Home. Friends and family may call 2-3 p.m. with services starting 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St., Guilford. Burial will be after at Abbot Village Cemetery.
