SPRING HILL, Fla. – Kreg Daniel Cookson became an angel May 23, 2009, after an extended illness. Kreg was born Jan. 22, 1971, in Bangor. He attended Brewer schools and was a graduate of the University of Maine, Orono, in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. Kreg moved to Florida in 1995 to pursue his nursing career. His love of music stayed with him his entire life and he was a member of Una Voce – The Florida Men’s Chorale in Tampa, Fla. Kreg is survived by his mother and stepfather, Marcia Cookson and Merritt “Sonny” Hayden of Spring Hill, Fla.; a brother, Kris Cookson and his wife, Cassandra and their sons, Spencer, Bennett and Carter, of Maitland, Fla.; and a brother, Kory Cookson and his wife, Jessica, of Jacksonville, Fla. He is also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins. Kreg was predeceased by his father, Darrell “Cookie” Cookson. Graveside services will be held in Maine in the fall.
