CARIBOU – Cecile M. Damboise, 94, passed away Friday, May 29, 2009, at her residence while being cared for by her daughters and hospice. She was born Sept. 30, 1914, in Fort Kent, to Hypolite and Zeline (Robichaud) Bernier. Family was first with Cecile and even with the large family she had never forgot a birthday or a special occasion. She enjoyed walking, crocheting, knitting, playing cards, crossword puzzles and word finds, and was an avid reader. Cecile was passionate about her faith and was frequently praying the Rosary, and she was a communicant of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She is survived by nine children, Irvin and his wife, Annette, of Caribou, Vernon and his wife, Cynthia, of Bristol, Conn., Vincent and his wife, Diane, of Wolcott, Conn., Pauline Harris and Richard of Caribou, Maxine Thibodeau and her husband, Eldon, of Fort Myers, Fla., Gilman and his wife, Jeanne, of Bristol, Conn., Galen of Bristol, Conn., Clinton and Darlene of Terryville, Conn., and Bryant and his wife, Robin, of Eagle Lake. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Paul Damboise; five brothers, Gilman, Vincent, Eddy, Camile and Arthur Bernier; and a sister, Priscilla Paradis. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 1, at Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Aaron Damboise and the Rev. Clement Thibodeau, celebrant. Interment will take place after the service at Sacred Heart Cemetery. After the committal, a reception will be held in the church fellowship hall.
