OLD TOWN – Donna D. Oakes, 66, wife of James Oakes, passed away May 30, 2009, at her residence. She was born Jan. 11, 1943, in Old Town, a daughter of Leon C. and Evelyn (Miller) Dubay. Donna attended Old Town schools and was a 1962 graduate of Old Town High School. She was an active member of Old Town United Methodist Church, participating in the church choir and serving on numerous committees. Donna was a 25-year member of Millwee Chapter No. 121 Order of the Eastern Star. She was employed in the admission office at the University of Maine for 41 years. Donna will be fondly remembered for her beautiful floral arrangements, crocheted hats and mittens, and for her cooking, especially her pies and fudge. She is survived by her husband, James Oakes; two daughters, Debbie Webber and her husband, Bill, of Garland and their children, Isaac, Matthew and Jessica, and Danielle O’Neill and her husband, Shane, of Minnesota; a sister, Linda Costigan of Old Town; many special nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, June 6, at Old Town United Methodist Church. Burial will be afterward at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town.
