CARIBOU – Ernest B. Dionne, 85, husband of Marie Anne (Dube) Dionne, died May 30, 2009, in Caribou. He was born Nov. 15, 1923, in Madawaska, the son of Eloie and Marquerite (Cyr) Dionne. He was a graduate of Madawaska High School and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Ernest was employed at Aroostook Federation of Farmers for 22 years and also with Agway Inc. for 19 years. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic minister, an offertory minister, a funeral acolyte minister and a hospitality minister, and also helped in money counting. He also served as president of Catholic Golden Age for 20 years. He was a life member of Lister-Knowlton Post No. 9389 Veterans’ of Foreign Wars. Ernest married Marie Anne (Dube) Dionne, Dec. 29, 1947. Surviving in addition to his wife of Caribou are two sons, Donald N. Dionne and his wife, Debby, of Braden, Fla., and George J. Dionne and his wife, Linda, of Lakeland, Fla.; one daughter, Anne M. Davenport and her husband, Dannie, of Tinker, New Brunswick; two sisters, Marie Anne Perusse of Edmundston, New Brunswick, and Therese Patterson of Salem, N.H.; three grandchildren, Alicia, Johnathan and Miranda; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers, Lewis, Edmund, Gerard, Eugene and Henry Dionne; and four sisters, Esther Albert, Alma Dionne, Mona Dionne and Alice Crandell. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, with evening military services being held 7 p.m. by the officers and members of the Veterans’ of Foreign Wars. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, June 4, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie, pastor, officiating in a Mass of Christian burial.
