DOVER-FOXCROFT – Barbara L. Merrill, 81, wife of the late Everett F. Merrill, died June 3, 2009, at a local hospital. She was born Oct. 2, 1927, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Lester and Hazel (Davis) Lovejoy. Barbara had worked for the telephone company for many years as an operator, and later at Mayo Regional Hospital. She was a charter member and first president of Mocutoc Club, Dover-Foxcroft. She always enjoyed shopping and meeting her friends for lunch. Barbara was an avid gardener, which was evident from the flowers and gardens which grew around her house. She is survived by a son, Bart and his wife, Robin, of Dover-Foxcroft; a daughter, Nancy Robinson and her husband, Sanford, of Dover-Foxcroft; two brothers, Philip of New Hampshire and Paul of Dover-Foxcroft; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Castonguay and her husband, Jarod, of Gray, and April Engle of Portland. She was predeceased by two brothers, Horace and Earl. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 5, at Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. A graveside funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, in the family lot at Dover Cemetery with the Rev. Dodie Sheffield officiating.
