BELFAST – Doris T. Light, 89, died June 2, 2009, at a local health care facility. She was born Sept. 9, 1919, in Morrill, the daughter of Robert and Lilla (Whitcomb) Hatch. She was a short-order cook at Whitcomb’s Cafe for many years. She also cooked for Waldo County Jail. Most of her married life, Doris did housekeeping for many area residents. She and her husband, Henry, had been avid members of Morrill Baptist Church. Doris belonged to 4-H Club and will be remembered for her bubbly personality, wonderful smile and love of children. She was predeceased by her foster parents, Alonzo and Alice Kinney; her brothers, Clyde, Wilbert, Roy and Walter; her sisters, Ivy, Fannie and Millie; and foster sister, Priscilla. Doris is survived by her husband of 53 years with whom she did everything, Henry Light of Belfast; her brother, Robert Neil Hatch and wife, Jeanette, of Lincolnville; her sisters, Christine, Nora, Olive, Roberta and Mable; foster sister, Rowena Kinney; sisters-in-law, Joey and Christine; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, with the Rev. Richard Reynolds officiating.
