OLD TOWN – Our special girl, Meghan Elizabeth Plunkett, 14, passed away early Sunday morning, June 7, 2009, at home. Meghan was born Nov. 17, 1994, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., the first-born daughter of David Plunkett and Melinda (Stewart) McInnis. Meghan enjoyed living at home with her family where her quiet presence was always appreciated. She was loved by all whose lives she touched, including extended family and devoted church friends. She had a gentle, peaceful nature and a beautiful smile. She loved her ladybug bedroom and enjoyed listening to music. Her life was enriched by the friends with whom she spent her days at William S. Cohen School Multiple Handicapped Regional Program. She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Melinda and Christopher McInnis; sisters, Sarah Plunkett and Grace McInnis; her father and stepmother, David and Lisa Plunkett; stepsiblings, Patrick, Allison and Emma Dearing; maternal grandparents, Susan and Ben Estes, Terry Stewart and Nancy Hansen; maternal great-grandparents, Iris Black, Pauline Staples and Newman and Marge Stewart; paternal grandparents, the Rev. Frank and Arlene Gould; in addition to many special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; a very special nurse and dear friend who cared for Meghan for 12 years, Virginia Gifford. She was predeceased by her maternal great-grandfathers, the Rev. Bernard Black and Robert Staples; paternal great-grandmother, Alta Gould; and infant cousin, Christian Rae Estes. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Funeral services will be as follows: paternal family and friends will meet 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, at Messiah Baptist Church, 985 Union St., Bangor, and maternal family and friends will gather 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with committal immediately after at Mount Hope Cemetery.
