BANGOR and BREWER – William F. Braisted, 80, husband of the late Pauline (Ellis) Braisted, died June 7, 2009, at a Brewer health care center. He was born Feb. 7, 1929, in Ranache, Wash., son of the late William and Lillian (Reid) Smith. William worked for Modern Cleaners, Bangor, for many years as a pressman and he put his vast knowledge of electronics to use working for Sears repairing televisions. He was a HAM radio operator for 51 years with the call sign K1HLG. His enjoyment of hunting and fishing also led him to some work as and outdoor guide. Surviving are eight children, Jenny Braisted of Bangor, Brenda Sawyer and her husband, Clarence “Bud,” of Brewer, Linda McDonald and her husband, John, of Bangor, Robert Braisted and his wife, Lisa, of Bucksport, Ronald Braisted of Brewer, Pamela Rezendes of Brewer, John Braisted of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Brian Braisted of Bangor; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years; three sons all named William; and a daughter, Patsy Ann. His family expresses their gratitude to the staff of Brewer Rehab & Living Center, his physicians and the staff of Beacon Hospice for the excellent care. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, at South Levant Cemetery, Levant, with the Rev. Dr. Rex Garrett, director of chaplaincy services at Eastern Maine Medical Center, presiding.
