Positions are limited, but applications are still available for eligible young people to participate in the Tri-County Summer Youth Employment Program.
Nancy McKechnie of Training and Development Corp. reports qualifying individuals must meet low-income eligibility guidelines “as well as at least one other employability barrier.”
For residents of Piscataquis, Penobscot and Hancock counties, the pay is $7.25 an hour for approximately 30 hours a week.
The program is supported by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Eastern Maine Development Corp. and the Tri-County Workforce Investment Board.
“This is an excellent opportunity to provide young people with the opportunity to gain work experience with local employers and to earn much-needed extra money,” McKechnie wrote, adding employers “interested in providing productive and meaningful work experience” for young people “must provide supervision and appropriate working conditions.”
Qualifying individuals or interested employers should call the Bangor Career Center to either request an application or to provide a job opportunity.
Call 561-4076; 561-4055; 561-4028 or 888-828-0568 and ask for the Summer Youth Employment Program.
