CARIBOU – Clifford Holman, 75, passed away Monday, June 8, 2009, at a local health care facility. He was born April 21, 1934, in Paterson, N.J., the son of John and Henrietta (Boonstra) Holman. Clifford served 20 years in the U.S. Navy and retired as a chief petty officer in 1971. He was a member of the American Legion and was a past commander and adjutant. One of the pleasures in life for Clifford was coaching and umpiring little league baseball in Old Orchard Beach. He is survived by two sons, Boyce Holman and his wife, Lori, of Caribou, and Clifford Holman Jr. and his wife, Glenda, of Sanford; and five grandchildren, Daniel, Rachelle, Todd, Justin and Brandon. Clifford also leaves behind five siblings, John N. Holman, Elizabeth Wychoff, George Holman, Alberta Beatty and Lois Richard; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 75 years, Barbara (Jordan) Holman. A memorial service will be conducted 9 a.m. Monday, June 15, at the new Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
