BANGOR – Stephen W. Gilman, 45, died June 10, 2009, surrounded by his loving parents at his Bangor home, after a brief illness. He was born Sept. 18, 1963, in Bangor, the son of Bruce and Marjorie (Smith) Gilman. Stephen worked as a construction worker for Central Maine Paving in his earlier years. He took several courses at Husson College and enjoyed doing volunteer work at Eastern Maine Medical Center for a number of years. Stephen played wheelchair rugby for the Maine Roadrunners and Connecticut Jammers. He is survived by his parents, Lawrence and Marjorie (Smith) Closson of Bangor; his son, Jacob Gilman; Jacob’s mother, Echo Gilman, both of Florida; and his brother, Michael Gilman of Bangor. The family wishes to thank St. Joseph Hospice for their care and devotion to Stephen. Services will be private for the family at a later date.
