MADAWASKA – Armand D. Cyr, 93, passed away June 14, 2009, at a Fort Kent health care facility. He was born Sept. 24, 1915, in Madawaska, son of Dan and Agnus (Bellefleur) Cyr. Armand started black-smithing with his father at a very young age. After many years of doing so, he turned his shop into a welding shop. He also shoed horses, another trade learned from his father. He was a member of St. David choir for many years, as well as a lifetime member of fourth degree Knights of Columbus, Council No. 2638, Madawaska. Armand loved people, music and singing, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be fondly remembered for his laughter. Armand is survived by one daughter, Kathleen Cyr of Medford, Mass.; three sons, Richard A. Cyr and his wife, Jeanne, of Madawaska, Norman M. Cyr and his wife, Linda, also of Madawaska and David D. Cyr and his wife, Louise, of Woodland; five grandchildren, Susan Quenga, Steven Cyr, Tammy Wortman, Dann Cyr and Dylan Cyr; nine great-grandchildren, Nicolas and Catherine Quenga, Hannah and Ella Cyr, Joshua, Isaac, Gabrielle, Jesse and Daniel Wortman; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia (Dionne) Cyr; and seven brothers and sisters. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, at St. David Church. Friends and family may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at Daigle Funeral Home. Interment will be at the parish cemetery.
