BELMONT – Richard Amon Morse, 83, died unexpectedly June 11, 2009, in Belfast. He was born Sept. 16, 1925, in Lincolnville, the firstborn son of Amon Alden and Mary L. (Lermond) Morse. Richard served in the U.S. Army and owned farms in Monroe, Morrill and Belfast. During the mid-1960s he worked for Walter Flowers on the former Chenery Farm, Belmont. Richard farmed Christmas trees; he worked on the Packard farm in Searsmont, on state roads, had a blueberry raking crew, worked in the woods and hauled pulp to the mills. Richard is survived by his wife of 59 years, Greta; his children, Rose Newton and husband, Eugene, of Belmont, Richard Jr. and wife, Donna Morse, of Belmont and Camden, Gary Morse of Belmont and Cherissia and husband, Mike Walker, of Standish; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Raymond Morse and wife, Janet, and Amon Morse Jr. and wife, Barbara, all of Northport; sisters, Isabel and husband, Robert Maresh, Annie and husband, Richard Cilley, all of Belmont and Sylvia and husband, David Cushman, of Chichester, N.H.; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard was predeceased by his parents; three infant brothers; and his beloved sister, Janette Mary Morse. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, June 19, in the family lot at Union Cemetery, Route 52, Lincolnville, with a celebration of his life afterward at Rose and Eugene Newton’s, Lincolnville Road, Belmont.
