VAN BUREN and ST. LEONARD, New Brunswick – Bertha M. St. Pierre, 87, died June 15, 2009, at an Edmundston, New Brunswick, hospital. She was born Sept. 15, 1921, in Van Buren, the daughter of Cyril and Melina (Brudeau) Vaillancourt. Bertha was a hard worker all her life; raising her family, knitting, crocheting and gardening. She loved to play Charlemagne and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Donald St. Pierre of St. Leonard, New Brunswick; five sons, Rosaire Rossignol, Joseph Rossignol and his wife, Eileen, Philip Rossignol, all of Van Buren, Leo Rossignol and his wife, Sally, of Crouseville, andMarc Rossignol and his wife, April, of Madawaska; eight daughters, Germaine Whitten and husband, Joe, Anita Donovan and husband, Lloyd, all of Crouseville, Irene Whitmore and husband, Philip, of Buckfield, Marie Roy and husband, Rosaire, of Turner, Therese Langrell and husband, John, of Lyman, Leda Burrow and husband, Eddie, Shirley Newton and husband, Tony, all of Arkansas, and Doris Murphy and fianc?, Gil Gagnon, of Grand Isle; one brother, Gerard Vaillancourt of Lewiston; four stepchildren, Donald St. Pierre Jr., Lynne Marquis, Sheila St. Pierre and Sandra St. Pierre; 48 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren and 11 stepgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Theodule Rossignol, in 1976, her second husband, Alphonse Clavette, in 1983; one son, Aurele Rossignol, in 2001; and two daughters, Rita Rossignol, in 1946 and Helen (Rossignol) Violette, in 2006. Relatives and friends may call 6-9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Committal service and interment will be at the parish cemetery.
