AUGUSTA – Bill Kinch, 77, a resident of Belgrade, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Maine General Hospital with his family by his side. He was born May 30, 1932, in Livermore Falls, the son of William L. and Althea (Moulton) Kinch. Bill was a 1950 graduate of Livermore Falls High School and furthered his education in Kents Hill in 1951. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 aboard the destroyer USS Brownson. He made his home in Bangor from 1966 to 1994, moving to Livermore Falls and then to Belgrade in 2005, where he had resided until the time of his death. Bill worked for the Bangor Daily News from 1966 until his retirement in 1994. He served as president and shop steward of the Bangor Typographical Union, Local No. 446. He was a life member of the VFW, Frank L. Mitchell, Post No. 3335 of Jay and American Legion, George Bunten, Post No. 10 of Livermore Falls. He was a staunch Democrat, an avid Red Sox fan and he enjoyed his loyal companion “Ralphie.” He is survived by three daughters, Kathy Kinch and her fianc?, David Benham, of Leeds, Mary Margaret Kinch Comstock and her husband, Richard, of Belgrade, and Ann Elizabeth Pierce and her husband, Jeffery, of Dresden; two sons, William T. Kinch of Augusta and Michael John Kinch of Livermore Falls; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; his former wife and lifelong friend, Priscilla Payne of Augusta; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Bette Ann Parker; and his favorite dog, Teeka. Visiting hours will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Finley Funeral Home, 15 Church St., Livermore Falls, where funeral services with full military honors will be held 11 a.m. Friday. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Livermore Falls. Military organizations will meet 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
