PLYMOUTH – Thelma Mae Holt, 92, master sergeant U.S. Army, retired, died peacefully May 20, 2009, at her Gainesville, Fla., home. Ms Holt was born May 10, 1917, in Plymouth, the daughter of Moses and Thala Holt. She was a decorated Army veteran of World War II. She enlisted in one of the first Army Companies of Women in 1942. Master Sgt. Holt served in the Panama Canal Zone, Hawaii and post-war Japan. She received an honorable discharge after 24 years of distinguished service to her country. Thelma is survived by her brother, Ivan Holt of Plymouth; and other family members in Florida, Georgia and Maine. Memorial services with full military honors will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at Sawyer Cemetery, Plymouth, with the Rev. Ernest Campbell officiating.
