CHERRYFIELD – Elsie M. Stanwood died Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. She was born in Wesley and was a resident of Cherryfield. She worked as a home health caregiver before retiring. She loved to write short stories and poetry, and was a member of a popular online writing group. Elsie was also a voracious reader, especially the Bible. She liked listening to classical music, was an avid gardener and very dedicated to the U.S. troops. Elsie was always relentless in giving and caring and will truly be missed. Survivors include three sons, Burleigh of Milbridge, Joel of Kenduskeag and Lane of Columbia; several brothers; 10 grandchildren, Patrick, Bobby, Rachael, Allan, Cory, Jessica, Bridgette, Kristine, Kyle and Gavin; many great-grandchildren, including Corey and Sherie; several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a daughter, Sherrie Huntley Britton. A visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 21, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Milbridge, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, June 22, with Pastor Ambrose Rolfe officiating.
