BANGOR – Anita K. (Beaulieu) Lyons died June 17, 2009, one week after her 97th birthday. She was born June 9, 1912, in Presque Isle, daughter of Alfred and Sophie Beaulieu. Anita taught school at Brewer School for Mentally Handicapped Children for many years. She loved to cook and excelled at it worthy of her French Canadian heritage. She loved being with family and was the impetus in buying cottages on Branch Pond 40 years ago, which have become beloved by all the extended family. She enjoyed traveling and, among other places, traveled to the Middle East, Spain and Italy with her daughter, Lois, and family. Until recent years she enjoyed playing bridge with friends and was a very skilled player. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Anita is survived by her daughters, Gail MacLean of Westport, Conn., and Lois Lewis of Houston; by her son, John S. Lyons of Deerfield, Ill.; and by her grandchildren, Scott, Stuart and Shaune MacLean, Leslie Lewis Najm, Kathleen Lewis Starks, Tony Lewis and Michael Lewis, Daphne and Peter Demaris, Christopher, Eric, Dana and John Lyons II. She also is survived by 22 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Anita was predeceased by her sisters, Agnes, Adelle, Avis and Reba; and by her husband, Frank J. Lyons; and daughter, Jill DeMaris. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, July 27, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 754 Ohio St., Bangor, with a reception afterward in the parish hall.
