HERMON – Mary M. Byers, 77, died June 24, 2009, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Dec. 15, 1931, in Gloucester, Mass., the daughter of Charles and Lydia R. (Enos) Young. Mary started her family in San Diego, moved to upstate New York, then settled in Hermon in 1974. She worked for Sears and Roebuck for many years. Mary enjoyed gardening in her early years and she enjoyed attending Hermon Baptist Church. Mary was a dearly loved mother, wife, sister, daughter and grandmother and will be missed. She is survived by her children, Jeff Byers and wife, Brenda, Tim Byers and Jennifer Fernald; and grandchildren, Patrick, Mitchell, Dawson, Nicholas, Jillian, Brittney, Brandon, Jordan and Hunter. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Richard Byers; and a brother, Peter Young. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 26, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Garnett Chute, pastor of Hermon Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Snows Corner Cemetery, Hermon.
