ORLAND – Doug S. Carlisle, 61, died Thursday, June 25, 2009, with his loving family by his side, at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 15, 1947, in Ellsworth, son of Leonard Guy and Eleanor Elizabeth (Carter) Carlisle. Doug enjoyed going to car auctions with his buddies, collecting antique cars and tinkering on them, and spending time with family, including his four-legged fur kids, Becca, Maddie, Brady, Frankie, Nipsy and Tilley. He was predeceased by three fur kids, Tammy, Beauty and Chelsea. He was a member of Rising Sun Masonic Lodge No. 71 of Orland and Anah Temple Shrine for more than 25 years. Doug is survived by his loving wife of 42 years on June 30, Mary Susan (Saunders) Carlisle; daughters, Michelle Carlisle Fink and husband, Scott, of Hillsboro, N.J., and Terri Sue Smith and former husband, Gregg Smith, of Eddington; son, Eric Carlisle of Orland; grandchildren, who lovingly referred to him as Bampa, Kodey, Kaylee and Devin Carlisle, Bethany and Spencer Fink, and Emily and Nicholas Smith; siblings, Rita McCallian and husband, John, of Orland, Lorraine Clair and significant other, Tom Donnell, of Eastbrook and Mary Lampher and husband, Michael, of Bucksport; mother-in-law, Ruth Saunders of Orland; sister-in-law, Sharon Saunders of Orland; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Doug was predeceased by a brother, Adelbert Carlisle; brother-in-law, William Clair; and father-in-law, Hudson Saunders. Visiting hours for family and friends will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 29, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Peter Remick officiating.
