OLD TOWN – Jean Dunham Pierce, 79, died June 25, 2009, at home with her family. She was born Dec. 14, 1929, in Brooks, the daughter of Lloyd T. and Ferol Smith Dunham. She grew up in Ellsworth and graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1948. She worked in the insurance business until her retirement in 1995. She supported several charity organizations, including Manna Ministries and Bangor Humane Society. She enjoyed seeing her large family grow and expand. Jean is survived by her loving family: daughter, Shelley Packard and fiance, Charles Cirame; daughter, Jami Lee Brown and husband, Alan; grandchildren, Brian Currie Jr. and significant other, Beth Collins, Marnie Wirta and husband, Mark, Barry Currie and wife, Tristine, Ryan Packard and wife, Kaori, Bart Currie and wife, Janet, Erich Packard and wife, Meagan, Hannah Way and husband, Ben, Meghan Packard and husband, Kevin Moore; great-grandchildren, David Parent, Michelle Gallant, Jennifer Parent, Brandon Currie, Kendra Currie, Kiersten Currie, Brody Hodsdon, Bethany Way, Brandon Way, Colby Currier, Haidee Hodsdon, Sophia Wirta, David Packard, Aidan Currie, Alexander Wirta, Taebria Currie and Weston Moore; and two great-great-grandchildren, Amy Gallant and Christopher Gallant. She is also survived by two sisters, Althea Cousins and Natalie O’Connor; brother-in-law, David Pierce and wife, Connie; and sister-in-law, Lois Fournier. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, James L. Pierce; son-in-law, David L. Packard; and sister, Shirley Broughan. A service of remembrance will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Manna Ministries.
