HOULTON – Reta Lorraine (Carver) Hatfield, 68, died June 28, 2009, at her residence. She was born July 28, 1940, in Marietta, Ohio, daughter of L. Damon and E. Marie (Place) Carver. After graduating from Randolph High School, she volunteered in Mexico working with the orphans and poor families. Returning to the United States, she worked pursuing a degree in nursing, from a licensed practical nurse to a registered nurse, working in hospitals, nursing homes and public health for the state of Maine. Surviving are her husband, Douglas Hatfield of Houlton; a daughter, Rachel Churchill of Trenton; two grandchildren, Patrick and Marlaina Churchill of Trenton; a niece and three nephews in California; and several cousins in Ohio. She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Ernest; and a son, Shawn Scott Hatfield. At Reta’s request, there will be no visiting hours or funeral service. A memorial service will be held at the family’s convenience. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
