HOULTON – Bernice LeFay, 84, died July 1, 2009, at a local health care facility. She was born Sept. 21, 1924, in Hodgdon, the daughter of Wallace and Gladys (Hall) Laing. Bernice attended Hodgdon schools. She was employed for many years with the local dry cleaners and anyone who had a stain problem knew to go to Bernice. She so enjoyed going around to yard sales and playing all sorts of board or card games, and mostly loved playing games with her family and close friends. Bernice is survived by her husband, Ted LeFay of Houlton; son, Allen LeFay and his wife, Cheryl, of Palmyra; daughter, Cathy Seitz and her husband, Jim, of Arizona; four grandchildren, Brent LeFay, Christopher Brannen, Katrina LeFay and Stephen Williams; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Sonya Palmer and her husband, John, of Carmel; brothers-in-law, Leo LeFay of Monticello, Leslie LeFay and his wife, Nellie, of Smyrna; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her infant daughter, Sharon LeFay; siblings, Bob, Gene, Alston, Arnold, Earle, Darrell and Chester Laing, Mildred Gardiner, Verna Polter and Bertha Black. Friends may call noon until time of the service 1 p.m. Friday at Dunn Funeral Home with the Rev. David Tuttle officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
