DOVER-FOXCROFT – Alice C. Veno, 89, wife of the late Joseph E. Veno Jr., died July 3, 2009, at a local hospital. She was born Dec. 2, 1919, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Abel and Minnie (Chase) Chase. A graduate of Foxcroft Academy, Alice was a member of Mayo Regional Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, United Methodist Church of Dover-Foxcroft and United Methodist Women. She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed caring for her family and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by three children, Joseph and his companion, Lois Reynolds, John and his wife, Marie, and Cheryl Dyer and her husband, Michael, all of Dover-Foxcroft; two sisters, Linda Chase-Swalling of Anchorage, Alaska, and Jane Doble of Bloomfield, Conn.; a brother, Merle Chase of Jacksonville, Texas; four grandchildren, Tony and his companion, Leah, John and his wife, Briana, Mary Louise and her husband, Jon, and Ashley; five great-grandchildren, Blake and Nicholas Dyer, Brittany Dyer, Brandon Dyer and Matthew Fillmore and their mother, Michelle Mellon; three special nieces, Ramona Parsell, Eleanor Agustoni and husband, Joseph, and Peggy Fournier and her husband, Dick; and a special cousin, Thomas Chase. She will be remembered by three very dear friends, Alma Edmonds, Eunice Mitchell, and Nora Turner. Alice was predeceased by three brothers, Lockwood Chase, Andrew Chase and Mickey Chase; and her identical twin sister, Lois Buzzell. A graveside memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, in the family lot at Greenville Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Dodie Sheffield officiating.
