TOPSFIELD and CUMMING, Ga. – Arnold David White, 62, died peacefully Sunday, June 28, 2009, with his wife, Eveonne, by his side at a Georgia hospital, after a long battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 12, 1946, in Calais, son of the late Delbert and Frances (Harriman) White. Arnold was a graduate of Lee Academy, Class of 1964. Shortly after high school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. While in the Air Force he married his wife, Eveonne Bernice (Sherman) White. When Arnold returned home, he began a career working as a millwright in the Georgia Pacific mill, now known as Domtar, Baileyville. He was employed there for approximately 10 years when he changed jobs and began driving truck for Murray LaPlant Inc., Princeton. Arnold always had great stories to tell and fond memories of his truck driving days. During the 1980s, he began working for Safematic, a company based in Atlanta. In 1995, he and his wife moved to Georgia where they bought a new home near Lake Lanier. Arnold resigned from this job in 2002 and went back to driving truck for Alan Densmore Inc., Suwanee, Ga., until his recent illness. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Eveonne; two sons, Rick White of Texas and Ivan White of Orrington; his daughter-in-law, Lydia White; eight grandchildren, Michael, Christine, Boston, Tatton, Talon, Tiber, Tell and Temperance White, all of Huntsville, Ala.; two great-grandchildren, Cole and Vespa, also from Huntsville, Ala.; one brother, Thomas White of Topsfield; three sisters, Anita Parlee and Marsha Carlisle of Bangor, and Rebecca Hanscom of Orrington; many nieces, nephews and cousins, too many to list. Arnold was predeceased by his second born son, U.S. Air Force, Lt. Col. Sheldon Garrett White of Huntsville, Ala., in April 2009. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, at Hunnewell Acres Cemetery, U.S. Route 1, Topsfield. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
