LYNETTE A. SHAW

MILLINOCKET – Lynette A. Shaw, 59, died Saturday, July 4, 2009, surrounded by her loving family at a Millinocket hospital, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She died on the 13th anniversary of the death of her father. Lynette was born July 30, 1949, in Farmington, daughter of Robert R. and Dorothy A. (Godin) Watts. She enjoyed sports, especially tennis, volleyball and softball. Lynette was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and also enjoyed fly-fishing in Millinocket Stream. Another favorite pastime was taking a ride on the Golden Road with a picnic lunch and fly rods. Many family get-togethers centered around playing cards with Lynette. She was a “cat person,” having had many as pets throughout the years. In addition to her mother of Millinocket, Lynette is survived by her husband of 40 years, Stephen W. Shaw of Millinocket; three sons, Rob Shaw of San Diego, Mike Shaw of Westbrook and Scott Shaw of Millinocket; sisters, Kathleeen Fuller and her husband, Michael, of Colorado, Dawn Stewart and her husband, Ian, of Millinocket, Brenda Misiura and her husband, Peter, of Medway and Theresa McGowan and her husband, Steven, of East Millinocket; a sister-in-law, Geneva McQuarrie of Westbrook; an uncle, Robert Godin and his wife, Muriel, of Oakland; an aunt, Dorothy Pinkham and her husband, Millard, of Sydney; her godmother, Phyllis Ogar of Washington state; her mother-in-law, Helen Shaw; brother-in-law, Tom Shaw and his wife, Holly, all of Skowhegan; three sisters-in-law, Kathy Glova and her husband, Jim, of Narvon, Pa., Nancy Shaw of Massachusetts and Maria Shaw of Irvine, Calif.; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She will also be missed by many friends, especially Carole and Kenny Wedge, and Jason Fiske of Chester, who was like her fourth son. In addition to her father, Lynette was predeceased by a brother, Bobby McQuarrie; an aunt, Mary Fisher; her father-in-law, Moses Shaw; and a brother-in-law, David Shaw. The family extends a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Millinocket Regional Hospital, especially Velma Rudge, for the loving care and thoughtfulness extended to Lynette and the family. Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider.
